Ucore is advancing a North American rare earth separation platform designed to connect Western-friendly feedstocks with the individual rare earth oxides required by magnet, metal, alloy, electronics, defense, and advanced materials manufacturers.
At the centre of this plan are two connected assets: Ucore’s Commercialization and Demonstration Facility in Kingston, Ontario, and the planned Louisiana Strategic Metals Complex in Alexandria, Louisiana. The Kingston CDF is generating the technical data, customer qualification samples, operating knowledge, and product specifications required to support commercial deployment at the Louisiana SMC.

From Feedstock to Finished Oxide
A staged pathway for commercial execution
1. Secure Western-friendly feedstocks
Ucore’s Louisiana SMC is being designed to accept qualified MREC and MREO feedstocks from Western-friendly sources.
2. Demonstrate and optimize separation at the CDF
The Kingston CDF processes real-world feedstocks, generates samples, compares RapidSX™ with conventional solvent extraction, and develops product quality data.
3. Qualify products with downstream customers
NdPr and Dy oxide samples are being provided to prospective customers for technical evaluation, quality review, traceability review, and compatibility testing.
4. Translate CDF learning into Louisiana SMC design
Customer feedback and operating knowledge from the CDF are being incorporated into engineering, commercial planning, commissioning, and operating plans for the Louisiana SMC.
5. Scale toward commercial production
The Louisiana SMC is planned as Ucore’s first commercial rare earth separation and oxide production facility, with an optimized RapidSX™ deployment plan designed for scalability, reliability, maintainability, and product flexibility.
6. Convert qualification into commercial supply relationships
As qualification programs progress, Ucore’s goal is to translate technical acceptance, product specifications, and customer feedback into structured supply, offtake, and strategic commercial relationships with downstream participants across North American and allied rare earth supply chains.
For downstream customers, oxide quality matters. Purity, impurity control, physical form, consistency, conversion performance, and traceability all have to be understood before commercial supply can begin. These samples give potential customers the material they need to evaluate Ucore’s rare earth oxides against their own technical and manufacturing requirements. This work also gives Ucore direct feedback from downstream customers as we continue to translate the learnings from our Kingston CDF into the design, construction, commissioning, and operational plans of the Louisiana Strategic Metals Complex."

The Strategic Metals Complex, or SMC, is Ucore’s planned commercial rare earth separation and oxide production facility. The first SMC is located in Alexandria, Louisiana, and is intended to process qualified mixed rare earth feedstocks into separated rare earth oxide products.
The Commercialization and Demonstration Facility, or CDF, is Ucore’s Kingston, Ontario technology centre. It supports RapidSX™ demonstration, process optimization, product finishing, customer qualification, and knowledge transfer to commercial deployment.
NdPr is the primary magnetic foundation for NdFeB permanent magnets. Dysprosium is a heavy rare earth used in high-performance magnets where heat resistance, coercivity, and stability are required. Ucore has recently produced both 99.5%+ NdPr oxide and 99.9% Dy oxide for customer qualification programs.
The CDF generates operating data, product samples, process knowledge, and customer feedback that can be applied to Louisiana SMC design, construction, commissioning, and commercial planning.
